Safe, sensory garden for Isla

Donation protected
On 9th July 2012 my beautiful girl Isla was born. It had been a traumatic pregnancy as we knew something wasn’t right with her heart and the worry of her having Downs Syndrome had been hanging over our heads. She didn’t have DS but began turning blue and couldn’t breathe so was taken straight to Intensive Care. Isla spent her first 10 weeks in hospital where we slowly began to find out about her problems. She had a hole in her heart, severe hypotonia (floppy body), acute reflux, global developmental delay and a floppy larynx.

She turns 3 this year and still cannot walk or talk, we don’t know if she ever will. She is classed as having an ‘undiagnosed genetic disorder’ so we do not know what her future holds. She has already has 3 operations and we know there will be more. She is the size of a 12 month old and is fed via a tummy PEG. Despite all she goes through on a daily basis she is a happy little thing and enjoys being outside.

So our project for this year is to turn our building site of a garden into a safe, sensory play area for her. Our garden slopes dramatically and is simply not safe for her. We have done some fundraising and are saving all the money we can but unfortunately we haven’t yet get enough to start this project which will cost us £2000. We are hoping to create a padded area for her to roll around in with new toys and maybe even a Wendy House! If you feel you would like to donate to this cause we would be extremely grateful. This garden will make a massive difference to us all, especially Isla. Thank you very much J
