Lt. Bruce Alan Larsen medical bills

It began on the first days of April, when my husband started having terrible headaches. After going to E.R. and to our doctor several times, always with the same diagnostic, he had an outpatient surgery to clean his sinus cavities. On the day after I had to rush him to E.R. because the headaches were unsuportable and he was out of himself, like he didn't come back right from the anesthesia. Being a diabetic, his blood sugar was skyrocketing. He was admitted at Palestine Regional Medical Center.

On the second day the doctor detected what seemed to be a fungus infection in my husband's mouth and life- flighted Bruce to Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler. There, a team of Specialists of Infectious Diseases, ENT,  Oral Surgeons among others, started a battle to remove all the dead tissue, bones and teeth affected by the flesh eater fungus. They also started a PEG tube to feed him straight from the abdomen to the stomach as his mouth was terribly damaged!

After 4 surgeries, antibiotics, anti fungus and the blood sugar levels absolutely out of control, my husband was transferred to the Baylor Hospital in Dallas. From April 22 until June 1st, he was submitted to debridements every other day, then 2 times a week, then every week, while friends, co-workers and family were supporting us in every possible way.

After 15 surgeries we had good news: the surgeon told us he could not see any signs of fungus. My husband then was going to be transferred to a skilled nurses facility close to our town. He would have the IV meds until doctors were  sure the fungus was  totally erradicated from his body. From there they would start the long process of reconstruction.

Yesterday (June 07) they requested a MRI because Bruce's right eye sight became fuzzy and he had headaches most of the day, more painful in the evenings. Doctors found the fungus spotted somewhere too close to the brain where they can't remove it or my husband could die.

At this point we decided to start this campaign asking for help to cover the expenses in consequence of his disease.

More than ever we need prayers and positive thoughts for his recovery.
