Tim's Hospital Stay Relief Fund

Tim Calhoun is my big brother and I'm setting up this fundraising campaign in the hopes of helping him and his wife with a scary and overwhelming journey. As much as one person or one family tries to help, there is so much more strength when people come together.

Tim was diagnosed in the Fall of 2014 with advanced stage esophageal cancer. He immediately started hard core chemotherapy and radiation and acquired an attitude of strength, determination, and courage that was so profound. He then went to the Mayo Clinic on January 22 for a major, 10-hour surgery to remove the cancer tumor and reconstruct his esophagus and stomach. There were serious risks involved but the surgery was a success. He was originally told it would be a 2-week stay and recovery and then he would be able to go home.
On January 29, Tim was admitted into the Mayo Intensive Care Unit with several complications: pneumonia, a lung injury, and an infection. He was put on a ventilator, and heavily sedated, while they work to repair his lungs and clear up the infection.
Over one week later, he is still in the ICU, on the ventilator, and the healing process is taking so much longer than anyone anticipated. The original 2-week stay will now be a minimum of one month, but more likely, even more. His wife, Kris, has left everything behind in Pine River to be by his side every day; including her job. She is having to pay for her hotel room, groceries, gas, and regular utilities and mortgage for their home while she has temporarily made a new home in Rochester, MN.
The financial costs to keep her in Rochester and close to Tim for support are becoming difficult to manage and I'm hoping we can help them out. Nobody knows how long Rochester will be their temporary home so this request is to help with their immediate financial needs while they remain at the Mayo Clinic.
