Dave's Medical & Support Fund

As many of you are aware  on the 28th of March 2015, my dad (David) and cousin (Bill) were in a near-fatal car wreck near Springville, California. It has become apparent that the cause of the accident was likely a medical event that caused my dad to lose consciousness and allow the convertible Audi TT they were in to drift off of the remote road they were on and hit a large boulder. This allowed the vehicle to become airborne and flip end-over-end coming to rest on the road and explode. Bill, an Afghanistan war veteran and Combat Lifesaver, was able to get himself out of the burning car and then rescue my father who had suffered life-threatening injuries.

Bill heroicly pulled my father from the burning car to safety, and then had to walk a ways to get someone to help him find cell service and call for help. He did this all despite his own injuries.
My dad suffered near-fatal injuries to his head and neck. Miraculously, he did not suffer any spinal cord damage despite several cervical spine fractures. He has a significant number of facial, sinus, and skull fractures, as well as a frontal lobe brain injury.
He is alive because of the tremendous efforts of Bill, the California Department of Forestry, the LifeFlight team, and the trauma team at Community Regional Hospital in Fresno, California.
As I make preparations to attend to my father's needs, I will be taking a leave from my work. As you can imagine there are significant seen and unforseen expenses that come up during a time like this. I'll most likely have to commute weekly from Denver to Fresno for a long-time. As my father continues to make tremendous strides in his recovery, and we learn what neurological deficits he will have, we will have to make sure that he gets into rehab and learns how to take care of himself again. The travel expenses alone will simply be overwhelming.
I am reaching out to you, my family, friends, and others, for your help. I simply do not have the means to pay for all of the expenses, while not working. I realize that my focus needs to be on him 100% and I need your help to do that.

I have set the goal at $10,000, but honestly I have no idea if that is too much or too little of a goal. Please help with whatever you can. If you cannot give, I completely understand.

I will use your donations in the following ways:
-Travel Expenses, Lodging, & Meals
-Bills To Support My Absence At Work
-Other Expenses Related To Caring For Dad

I want to thank each of you for your incredible support, prayers, thoughts, and timely phone calls and messages. They have meant the world to me. Please keep them coming. I have shared your concerns with my dad, and he knows that he has an army of people praying for and thinking of him. I have been completely stunned with the incredible outpouring of love and compassion from people around the world and here locally wishing my father a speedy recovery.

I will continue to keep everyone apprised of the improvements, challenges, and victories that dad experiences. We don't know what the road ahead has in store for us, and so we will choose to live in the moment today and hope for a better tomorrow.

My thanks and love to each of you. My dad wouldn't believe how many of you have reached out. It truly is amazing to watch.

Thank you so much,
