Gwen Goodwin battles Leiomyosarcoma

We would like to help our YaYa sister with the financial strains of having terminal cancer and not being able to work and pay her bills.  Just over two years ago, Gwen , who is single and lives alone, was diagnosed with lung cancer (leiomyosarcoma) which is a very rare form of cancer.  The cancer was so advanced that she had to have her right lung removed.  She went through chemo and for a year was cancer free.  Almost a year ago, she found a lump on her right shoulder/collar bone.  It too, was malignant.  She had surgery to remove the tumor and had radiation to the site.  Before she was able to schedule chemo for that tumor, a CT scan revealed 3 smaller tumors had developed in her mid section.  They were small but growing rapidly.  She went into the hospital for a strong bought of chemo which left her with ulcers on her lips, in her mouth, down her throat and esophagus.  She could not eat and it was very painful to get fluids down.  This, of course, led to other issues such as blood transfusions, her kidney's weakened, she was low on potassium, etc.  After the 3rd bought of chemo, the doctors could tell she was suffering severely from the treatments and decided to discontinue due to her failing health and inability to eat.  The only option was for a research drug to be available.  Right after she came home, she had a letter waiting on her from her employer stating that after giving approximately 20 years of her life to them, they were terminating her employment.  This means that in the time of her life when she needed it most, they were walking away from her and leaving her with no insurance or source of income.  She has had to get on Cobra and that is very expensive.  There is one research drug that might help but it includes chemo with horrendous side effects and they will only cover the cost of the medicine.  All scans, lab work, etc will be out of pocket for her.  At this time, she has decided against pursuing this.  Other than that, her oncologist has said there is nothing else he can do.  Six months ago, she was told she would have approximately 2 years to live.  Because Gwen lives alone, she has had to move in with her brother and sister in law, although she currently still has the expense of her home.  Anything that could go wrong, has and even though Gwen is a Christian and is believing that God can heal her body completely, she is preparing in case His plan means something else.  

The funds raised here will be used to pay medical bills that have already acrued along with any future medical bills and living expenses that Gwen can no longer afford to pay.  With everything she is having to go through physically, we'd like to alleviate some of her financial strains so she can concentrate on her health.  There is no way we will be able to thank you for your thougtfulness and giving but God will someday.  Thank you, in advance.
