The Allure of Crime Podcast Ep 1

Donation protected
Hello Folks,

As you may or may not know, this is my 19th year out of prison. 7 years behind bars for bank robbery was enough for me.

I've since published a memoir, performed a one person show for 22 nights, offered my opinion on crime in national op-ed pages, and on TV shows like Nightline, 48 Hours, CourtTV. I even argued with Bill O'Reilly once on his program about what would happen to Scott Petersen when he got to San Quentin's Death Row.

I also got married. Now we are the proud parents of a very funny and smart girl.

Here's the deal. I'm now producing a podcast on the topic of crime. I will not to play the thug. I will not boast of my bank robberies. I guarantee you that would bore me as well as you. Fact. My goal is to entertain by showing another side of crime.

I promise to do at least two things with the podcast: 1) I'll poke fun of the insecure criminal twirp I used to be, while also illuminating you on the motivations of criminal behavior as I comment on my crime spree as well as crime stories in the news. Which means I will certainly talk a lot about policing, the criminal justice system, and what redemption looks and feels like to the offender.

And I will have fun interviewing my friends (directors, actors who have been in crime films or TV shows, or writers of crime scripts and books) about our favorite heist movies.

Oh, and you'll hear me talk about how prison prepared me for parenthood. That will be an ongoing topic that I believe will both amuse and amaze you.

Here is how you can be a part of this project.

I have quit a good paying job to start this podcast that I've been talking about for at least 4 years. I made the leap of faith last month, but I am stretched very thin financially. I need your donations to keep me going for the next two months while I continue to record and edit a truly entertaining podcast.

If I have made you laugh or smile over the years, or maybe you read my memoir and found inspiration in my story, or if I have been a good friend or mentor, I'm asking you to please donate $5 or $10.

Truth is, this podcast is more than me trying to entertain you. This podcast is me Owning My Story. My imagination has transitioned from waiting for Hollywood and Big Publishing to turn my words into profit, to me instead taking my words and stories straight online to find my audience and success.

I'm struggling a bit over here, but I have intense confidence that you will join me on this journey of story and lend me your financial support.

Peace.
