Loving Haiti Too 2018

Hello again! Thank you for helping to raise over $10,000 last year for education and medical care. It was a very impactful year. This year we will have our first medical clinic in Arniquet since Hurricane Matthew completely destroyed our clinic 2 years ago. We will be startng from scratch, a situation that seems to occur often in Haiti! Molly McKinsey, my daughter, will be working in the clinic again this year acting as the pharmacist and women's health educator. Molly's friend, Anneke Roy will be working along side her, as well as running a youth program to make sellable bracelets. It will be awesone to have such great helpers this year! The biggest and most costly project will be for the Woman Helping Women group. (This group consists of over 220 local village women who have come together to find a way to make a consistent salary. They have asked to be taught how to sew. They are interested in making hats, aprons, market bags and reusable femanine hygeine pads. In Haiti, if a student is menstruating, they are not allowed to attend school without protection. The village of Arniquet is a poor area without such essentials. The products the women make can then be sold at the local markets. Hand sewing will also be taught as everyone will not have the chance to use the machines at their will. I have already bought 1 Singer hand cranked sewing machine, but hope to buy 9 more. In Haiti they cost around $400 each. I need to supply each woman with their own basic sewing kit (thread, needles, pins, rulers, scissors, thimble etc). A sewing instructor will need to be hired full time and also an individual to repair and keep the machines running well. I cannot tell you how excited the women are! The women have already been participating in the sustainable Goat Program. We give 5 women one female goat each. Once those females goats have their first litter, all the women are required to do is to return to us one female goat. We then give that goat to another women, and so on and so on... great way to provide milk and meat! Very successful. Please help! Please support this wonderful program. This is my 9th year in Haiti. I humbly ask for your help. Your money goes directly to the above projects. Please let me know if you have any questions, Judy.
