Loving Grandparents Fighting For Their Lives

Donation protected
Over two years ago, our mother, Fern Rumbaugh (64) was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. She has had two surgeries and has been undergoing chemotherapy at the Cleveland Clinic, a two hour drive from home.  Her cancer continues to rage, causing her to become very ill at times. The cancer has metastasized to her chest and liver. The spot in her liver has a genetic mutation which has made treatment ineffective.  She has recently been accepted into a clinical trial and we are hopeful that this treatment will help her finally win her battle.

Our father, Terry Rumbaugh (70), has been her rock; driving the two hours each way for her weekly chemo treatments, taking care of the household and providing a modest income since our mother can no longer work.

In November 2019 we received more devastating news. Our father was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma; an inoperable, extremely aggressive brain cancer.  He is currently undergoing radiation at the Cleveland Clinic and receiving chemotherapy.  He can no longer work or drive. This has caused a significant stress emotionally and financially.  We are trying to support each other as a family as best we can despite the logistical challenges. Jana (oldest daughter) is a single mom living in CT with her son, Archer and runs her own small business. Traci (middle daughter) lives in OK with her husband, Ryan who is in the Navy and their daughter, Lily. She works on Tinker Air Force base.  Evan (youngest son) lives in PA with his wife, Caitlin and their son, Camden. Evan works long hours in sales.  We are focused on traveling home to help as much as possible as well as spending time making memories with their grandchildren.

Our parents are kind, generous people who worked very hard to support their family. Terry is a Vietnam Veteran and proudly served our country. Our parents are adored by their 3 grandchildren ages 1.5, 3 and 8 years old. They are cherished by their 3 children. They are loving, supportive friends to many. They would NEVER ask for help so we are asking on their behalf.

We are simply asking to help us cover the cost of travel, medical bills and basic living expenses beyond what their modest social security earnings provide.

Whatever you give is greatly appreciate. We can never thank you enough.
