Hi!
My name is Tux and I live on Evergreen Point. I’m well known by many in my neighborhood, but sadly don’t have a permanent home. A few months ago, I decided to adopt a family who feeds me, loves me and lets me live in their garage. They bought me a collar and a bed, although I prefer to sleep on their cars.
I really want to come indoors, but I’m waiting for their big furry dog to extend an invitation. From the looks of it, I may be waiting awhile!
In the meantime, I take what I can get and often bring them “gifts” of appreciation, which they always seem excited to discover!
Life can be challenging for an independent wanderer like me, but I’ve been doing fine up until last week when I realized I couldn't pee. For a male cat, being “blocked” is a life-threatening condition and since I’m only 3 years old, I told my host family I was in trouble. (You know, I stopped eating, drinking and moaned at their feet.) They quickly realized I needed medical attention, and took me to the Seattle Veterinary Specialists. Once there, I was immediately whisked to the back where they said my heart rate was dropping due to high levels of potassium. Two options were offered: a) to treat me for my blockage or b) have me euthanized, which we all know they would never do. I received amazing care at the clinic and while I’m not 100% recovered, I was released on Sunday afternoon, only to be kept indoors with some meds for several days.
I am posting this request to help my host family. They incurred over $2,400 in vet bills and I am eternally indebted to them for saving my life. Since I am a neighborhood cat, I’m asking their nice friends (many I’ve met) and anyone who loves cats to help them out. If we exceed this amount, we'll donate the balance to Seattle Humane.
I’m so grateful my life has been spared and in gratitude, plan to surprise my host family the biggest and best gift ever! I’m sure they will be thrilled!
