Oh, hey there! Do you come here often?
Svaha Theatre Collective is having some serious love trouble and we are hoping you can...lend a hand...or something like that. You get it. This is our third date with you at the FringeArts Festival - don’t you remember that time in 2017 in the park with (miss) Julie, or our first date in 2016 with Sarah Kane’s Crave (it was pretty intense). We thought the third date was a big step so we wanted to make things extra special, we are producing not one but two shows! Long Trouble and Phaedra’s Love.
Two queens rule the evening, Catherine and Phaedra: Long Trouble is a new adaptation of William Shakespeare and John Fletcher’s Henry VIII that calls attention to the trials and tribulations of Queen Catherine of Aragon. Phaedra’s Love is Sarah Kane’s explosive adaptation of the Greek myth, which follows the tragic life and love of Queen Phaedra and her royal family, calling to question issues of social justice and investigating whose voice matters.
It’s a lot to take in, but after all this is our third date...
Svaha Theatre Collective produces theatre that strives to find the epic in the everyday, the universal in the specific, and to uncover the collective connections within the individual human experience. Our productions explore the infinite potential of the human body, voice, mind, and soul through physically inspired interpretations of text.
In both Long Trouble and Phaedra’s Love, the foundations are crumbling and the crown is beginning to burn...but we need your help to ignite the flame.
Where you come in:
Our GoFundMe goal of $3,000 will allow us to rent costumes, props, rehearsal and performance space, pay our actors, purchase insurance, and re-pay our fearless leaders without all of us claiming bankruptcy or smashing open the piggy banks.

At $250 you’ll become the sponsor of one a whole performance. We’ll thank you onstage. We’ll record the thank you. We’ll play it for that actor you want to date...just kidding, but seriously.
