At the end of May, our beloved Mother, Friend, Sister, Aunt, Grandmother And Great Grandmother, Laurie Hatch was having a wonderful vacation with her sister visiting the sites of our mormon heritage back east right after Memorial Day. The next few days she noticed she was having some pain in her stomach, she was very sick on her trip back east but made it home and went to the doctor to get it checked out. The doctor sent Laurie to get a CT scan. The doctor informed her that he had found a mass on her ovary. Laurie is now facing the battle of Ovarian cancer.
Thanks to the help of some great doctors and cancer specialists we found out that she would need aggressive chemo therapy, surgery and another round of chemo after her surgery. It has been an interesting, long and sometimes trying summer. Laurie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer as another mass was found near her diaphram.
While she does have insurance from medicare it does not cover all of the expenses associated with the treatment. One chemo treatment and a medication patch alone cost almost $1200.00 out of pocket. With the help of an anonymous donor that cost was covered and we were so grateful.
After these first rounds of Chemo are finished she will need surgery and another round of chemo treatments. Her surgery is scheduled for some time in November or December of 2017.
