Educate 10 girls in largest slum!

The gift of education for young girls can be powerful and priceless. In India, where child marriage and child labour are imminent threats to young girls everywhere, educating underprivileged girls is not a priority for many. In 2011, UNICEF reported a 59% literacy rate for women in India. Every year as we travel to India, Pavitra & I have seen people struggle for basic needs. We've spoken directly to villagers to hear about the hardships they endure. My life changed when I visited one of the largest slums in Asia - Dharavi, India. In Dharavi, children often start education but don't finish. Girls are often forced into dangerous child labour and are often cited as "domestic workers" or "helpers" to get around the law. By the time factory managers have mercy on them, it is too late for them to rejoin school. This has inspired the two of us to send 10 girls to school in Dharavi, Mumbai! We are operating a registered not-for-profit called Love Pangea that works towards providing education to underprivileged children in developing countries. We've negotiated directly with the SSVRM school of Dharavi to make arrangements to send these girls to school. Our aim is to provide them with continuous long-term support so that they are able to successfully start and complete their academic careers. Education would give them a fair chance at life which is why we are asking for your contribution. This $1500 goal will cover the registration fees, monthly fees (12 months) & stationary for 10 of the most underprivileged girls attending school in Dharavi.
