Jeremaih's Recovery fund

Donation protected
Jeremaih Stroud is a bubbly, energetic young boy. He would jump at any opportunity to be with team-mates or visit family members. Now Jeremaih must learn to be himself with some major adjustments.

While riding to our annual family reunion, Jeremaih was injured in a tragic single car accident on May 26, 2017. Jeremaih was rescued by first responders who found him sitting outside of the vehicle with a blanket waiting for help. The accident resulted in the deaths of his Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Jeremaih suffered severe injuries including a tear in his small intestines, fractured elbow bone, pinched nerve causing damage to his eye function, torn ligaments in his neck, fractured spine, and damaged spinal cord causing paralysis in his lower extremities.

He loved to explore, play sports and spend time with family and friends. Jeremaih performed very well playing T-ball, then basketball aiming to be like his idol Steps Curry. He celebrated his 6th birthday on June 1, 2017 at Community Regional Hospital in Fresno. We also conducted a graduation ceremony, promoting him to the first grade. While in kindergarten, Jeremaih was celebrated as one of the Top Five students of four classes at Purche Avenue Elementary school, awarded perfect attendance and was reading, writing, and counting numbers at first grade level.

In order to keep Jeremaih in good spirits during his recovery and rehabilitation, we would like to provide him with options that will inspire independence as soon as possible. Jeremaih loves animals and has treasured each furry gift he's received during his hospital stay. Jeremaih was 4 years old when he lost his furry best friend "Hunny". Hunny was his companion since infancy. We believe a Traditional service dog would light up his world. Traditional service dogs are companions to help those who use other tools including but not limited to: wheelchairs, canes, crutches, and walkers, by picking up almost any dropped item, turning light switches on or off, and carrying items. Laptop Dogs are a smaller version of the traditional service dog with the agility to jump up on counters, retrieve items, and then to jump with the item into the owners lap. They perform tasks such as retrieving dropped items and opening doors. Here is a link to demonstrate how a service dog will be a blessing to Jeremaih and his development. https://youtu.be/lbgaBkkyJ4o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lMeoNojns0

In addition to a service dog, we'd like to provide Jeremiah with a a foldable, portable electric wheelchair. The wheelchair will make it possible for his mother or any family member to transport Jeremaih in the current vehicles we own instead of purchasing a wheelchair accessible vehicle.
