We have set this account up to help Larry and Corrie Allison with medical costs Larry needs, as well as support for their adorable children. Please give a little (or a lot) if you can. If you know them, you know they'd do the same for all of you!
Major Lawrence Allison, Larry, just turned 47 last month. He is Samoan and a father of 6. His youngest is 2. He has had an incredible and rewarding career as an Army Chaplain. He has traveled the world and dedicated his life to serving and helping soldiers in crisis. His civilian job was as a counselor at the High Desert Vet Center, where he helped returning veterans and their families cope with a range of post-deployment issues. Larry was bigger than life, extremely charismatic, extroverted, joyful and full of ambition and passion to serve.
Larry begain experiencing difficulties following his deployment to East Africa in 2015. He returned early and his condition has only worsened. He is now unable to function as he once did mentally, which means he needs help to do daily activities. Doctors are still narrowing down the precise cause, but they suspect Frontal-temporal Dementia or early-onset dementia of some form.The prognosis is that things will only worsen over time.
Larry may eventually receive long-term help from the VA, but that isn't expected to happen any time soon. In the meantime, he has immediate medical needs. His family also needs help with necessities, such as food, rent, etc. Corrie, Larry's wife, is currently caring for him and their children, which doesn't enable her to work. It's up to us to help them make it through this difficult time. Please do what you can!
