WHEN I STARTED THE FACEBOOK GROUP - LOVED ONES IN PUERTO RICO - CHECK IN, A MONTH AGO, I COULD HAVE NEVER IMAGINED THE PASSION AND IMPACT IT WOULD PROVIDE TOWARDS THE CAUSE AND EACH OTHER. WHILE I HAVE BEEN WORKING HARD TO RAISE MONEY AND GET CLEAN WATER SOLUTIONS TO THE ISLAND, I HAVE BEEN VISIBLY NOT AS ACTIVE ON THE PAGE. HOWEVER, I LEFT YOU IN THE LOVING HANDS OF MY AUNT, Vivian Medina, WHO HAS DEDICATED HER LIFE'S WORK TO AIDING DISENFRANCHISED CHILDREN. SHE HAS SELFLESSLY AND TIRELESSLY DEVOTED HERSELF TO THIS COMMUNITY AND WITHOUT HER, WE WOULD NOT THRIVE AS WE HAVE.

THANK YOU ALL FOR ALL THE SUPPORT. OUR WORK IS FAR FROM OVER. I WILL BE LAUNCHING MORE FUNDRAISING FOR OTHER INITIATIVE TO HELP THE PEOPLE. TOGETHER WE STAND AND PUERTO RICO WILL RISE. I HOPE YOU CONSIDER DONATING. ONCE I HAVE CONFIRMATION IN THE FORM OF PICTURES AND VIDEOS, I WILL SHARE WITH EVERYONE AND ASK YOU TO ALERT LOVED ONES IN THE AREAS THAT THERE IS NOW A COMMUNITY WATER FILTER AVAILABLE TO THEM.

Vanessa Pahucki, a 36-year-old teacher from Nyack, N.Y., saw her mother in tears Wednesday morning. The family was concerned that they hadn’t yet heard from Pahucki’s uncle, who was in Naguabo, Puerto Rico. Pahucki muddled through her work day and decided to put her social media skills to use. She started “Loved Ones in Puerto Rico — Check In,” a Facebook page where people are posting the names of their families, requests for updates about municipalities and video from the island.

“Any guayanilla news? Calle Guayacan?” one user wrote. “Desperate to find out information from Naranjito barrio Anones …,” wrote another. – The Washington Post

We are actively calling for people to aid in the efforts as Hurricane Maria wreaked havoc on the island of Puerto Rico, just after the departure of another hurricane. Puerto Rico opened it's doors and became a safe haven for those living on the surrounding islands despite also being affected, we need your help to make our efforts go even further!

You can help us - currently, 40% of Puerto Rico is without water and may not recuperate for months. With over 13,000 members of the Facebook Community Loved Ones in Puerto Rico - Check In which I created just three weeks ago - we have a community that has provided updates, support and connected loved ones with each other. It is now time to step up and use this platform to contribute in a tangible way - by supplying clean water to the Island.

We have a discounted purchase order for Crown Berkey Water Filter Systems - 100 of them and 800 filters. The quote with a 50% discount is $52,000 – We have raised almost $3,000 in 3 days and with just $10,000 we can supply 20 communities with the ability to access clean water and that is our short term goal.

My uncle who lives in San Juan and works in logistics for FedEx is working on securing trucks and drivers to pick up and deliver these systems to each of the municipalities. Your support is crucial to our efforts to give Puerto Ricans the one thing every human being needs to live - water.

If you’re able, we’d love it if you could make a donation of any amount you can afford to help us achieve our mission through grassroots efforts. Please share this initiative.
