It is with the heaviest heart many of us have ever felt that we remember the life of Torry Durels. On 5/18/19, Torry died from having been in a car accident. His life was full of love and friendship, and only just beginning its richest parts -- on the eve of his July 2019 wedding to the person he cherished most in this world.
None of us are more heartbroken right now than Maddee Rodewald (about to be Durels). In Torry, Maddee found her best friend and her soon-to-be partner for life. Together, they share a house, three dogs, and an entire future.
Some tragedy is too great for words. For Maddee and many others right now, it is unbearable and every day hurts.
This GoFundMe is set up by Maddee's family who want to make it possible for anyone that knows this couple to send Maddee your thoughts and prayers, but also your support so she might be able to breathe easier under financial pressure right now and to take time she deserves and needs to understand this entire hardship.
The phone calls and decisions Maddee is having to make -- while the weight of loss is intolerable -- are terrible, like:
- financial need to return to work soon
- how to pay the mortgage payment and other bills they, together, managed
- helping fund a memorial that feels impossible to plan and equate to what Torry's life has meant to everyone he knew, especially her

To Torry: It is obvious from so many of your friends, those whose life you came into contact with even back in grade school, and us that you were one of the best kinds of people -- sincere, thoughtful and considerate, with a lifetime of love you wanted to give Maddee. You are our family and we will always consider you this. We will never forget you. I know what you will have wanted most is that the love of your life is taken care of. Rest in peace and knowledge that together, we will all care for Maddee for you.
