Fight like Aiden!

Donation protected
Hello, for those of you who don’t already know, it’s time for you to hear the story of my incredible sister Ashley and her amazing son Aiden.  They are in the fight of their lives and I am sharing their story in the hopes you might be able to help.

Aiden was born in January 2017 with a perfect Mathis chin (our family trait), but the birth was an emergency procedure, ordered by the doctors after they noticed that something wasn’t right and the baby was in distress. Since then, Aiden’s story has been one of doctors doubting, but Aiden proving again and again that he isn’t ready to give up.

Aiden has HIE, a type of brain damage that happens when an infant doesn’t receive enough oxygen or blood to the brain. He is beautiful and strong and a source of true joy to everyone in our family. But his life will be full of challenges and hurdles, big and small. Aiden is fed through a tube in his stomach. He can breathe on his own, but he is still working on building the strength to hold up his head. He is a fighter and we believe in him getting there. He responds to colorful light and he hears and responds when his mom calls his name and tells him she loves him. We know when he is happy because he uses all the strength he has to roar like a dinosaur and smile with his whole body. Everyone in our family lives for these moments.

Ashley and Aiden's dad Justin have found a new source of hope for Aiden’s growth and future. There have been promising developments in stem cell treatment for children and babies like Aiden, but to access this treatment, they will need to travel to Panama. This is where we all come in. Ashley, Justin and Aiden will need $15,000 for the treatment alone, and another $3000 for travel, equipment, food and the other expenses of such a big undertaking for our little hero Aiden.

So that’s why I’m here asking for your help. Please donate to help Aiden get to Panama and home again. Any donation, large or small, will help us reach our goal. He has defied all of the odds up to now and with your long distance love and support, I believe he will continue to surprise us all.

Love, Aunt Devin
