This is probably the hardest letter I had to write to families, friends and strangers on behalf of my sister.  I have tears streaming just writing it but Gina needs our strength and support more than ever right now.  Gina has been diagnosed with Stage 3 stomach cancer that has attached to her liver.  She will soon be undergoing chemo and radiation to destroy this.  It will be hard for her financially as well as emotionally.  I ask for all the support you can give at this time.  A ride to the hospital, a friendly phone call, a warm dinner, or donations for her bills.   I do not want her to have to worry about how she will keep a roof over Ruby and Nick’s head while she kicks cancers ass!  I want her to focus on beating this.  Not worrying about funds to pay for medical treatments and her home.

A little bit about my sister

At a young age we lost our mother to cancer, Gina stepped in and took care of me and our brother when she was supposed to be playing with her friends and enjoying her childhood. She dressed us, took care of us when we were sick and even gave me a haircut (by the way Gina a mullet does not look good on a girl).

Not even a year has passed since we lost our sweet brother, Robbie.  Feel his presence Gina, he is fighting with you.

Gina put herself through her bachelor’s degree in education and made an impact on so many children at Cardinal Bernardin’s in Tinley Park.  Cardinal Bernardin, please pray for Gina for the strength she needs and love from God.  From the moment she started working there you accepted her as family and she tells me that all the time.  Prayers from the CJB community would be most appreciated.

Gina has always been there for those in need.  Since moving to Tennessee she tried to help anyone.  Often she tells me stories of friends that needed help and she took them in, gave them meals and helped in any way she could.  Her door is always open as well as her heart, let’s help her now.

She is stubborn, strong and a survivor.  Watch out tumor, you are no match for her!  She will fight this and needs our help to do it.

If you are able, please donate to help her medical and living expenses during this time of need. Please share this page with others to assist in helping her.  She needs all the support she can get.

My letter to Gina,

You are stronger than anyone I know, now is the time to show it.  Fight it and don’t give up.  You are not in this alone, the day you called me to tell me the results, my life shattered with you.  You told me you were angry and watch out when someone gets you angry, you fight even harder.  As your sister, I have seen that anger (let’s be honest, I never wanted it directed at me).  It is a force to be reckoned with.  My anger is standing with you.  Me, you and Robbie have always fought hard and stood together as one through all our heartaches.  We stand together as one again.  I am holding your hand and Robbie is holding the other; his angelic strengths are even stronger now.  Our strength united has never failed us.

Gina, my heart and door is always open to you and your children.

To the cancer that has plagued us our entire life, we fight with the strength of three and there is no battle we cannot conquer together.  So we begin this journey as one and beat it together.

Gina, I love you!

 Love your sister,

Alison
