Love of Kendra

Kendra is a single mother to a soon to be 8 year old son and a 1 1/2 month old baby girl. While pregnant she experienced a lot of sickness but was never given a clear diagnosis on all of her symptoms. She was able to deliver her baby girl on August 30th at 2:22pm and what seemed to be a low risk delivery soon took a turn for the worst. Kendra was sent for a CT scan thinking a possible diagnosis of Bronchitis or worse case pneumonia if the scan were to show any fluid around her lungs. Instead the results showed fluid around her heart and they told her she would be transported to Baptist ASAP. Kendra was heartbroken to leave her baby girl the day she was born but didn’t have a choice. After several scans and tests that night and the next day Kendra was told there was a large mass of infection, referred to as Bacterial Endocarditis, on her heart that was life threatening and would require open heart surgery to have a valve repaired. She came through the surgery and stayed in the hospital for 9 days. Once at home Kendra still didn’t feel any better due to a high, irregular heart rate and had to return to the ER and then back to Baptist for a few more days to get her heart rate under control. She is back home and beginning the long journey of getting her health back. She is monitored weekly by a nurse and will undergo physical rehab. Kendra’s sweet baby is doing wonderful but she has not been able to take care of her like she so desperately wanted. She is under doctors orders to not lift over 5lbs and she requires assistance with simple day to day activities. Kendra is very blessed and fortunate to have her mother staying with her and close friends and family lending a hand. Thanks to alot of prayer and her determination she has made it through and getting stronger every day. She has incurred several financial burdens due to surgery, doctor bills, and everyday necessities so we are setting up this page for a way to help to lift some of these financial burdens. Thank you so much in advance for your prayers and gifts!
