2020 has been an incredibly trying year for so many, including Jaimi.  For a brief synopsis, her difficulties began in March when she was diagnosed with pneumonia and had to use paid time off for multiple weeks during the illness.  In June, due to a pre-existing irregular heart valve and at the recommendation of her cardiologist, she had a cardiac catheterization surgery done through her right arm in order to indicate if she would need a stent implanted in her heart.  Thankfully, this revealed a stent would not be needed. However, this procedure required additional time off work for her to recover.

Afterwards, because of having “trigger finger” in multiple digits (most likely a result of 13+ years of repetitive work-related responsibilities), she underwent surgery on her right hand and treatment to her left, followed by several weeks of physical therapy.  Because of a subsequent “light-duty” requirement from her doctor following the surgery, management deemed her “unfit for work,” which required her to then go on short-term disability and use FMLA benefits for her recovery.  During this time, she was diagnosed with COVID, which further extended her time away from work.

Just before she would have been able to return to work, she experienced a traumatic fall, breaking her heel and ankle (in a total of six places) while spending time with her granddaughters.  This injury required reconstructive surgery in early November. Her current recovery time before she is expected to be able to walk again, putting full weight on her ankle is expected to be 12-16 weeks, per her doctor. The doctor has also given a diagnosis of two other procedures needed to complete the healing process of her foot. Due to the nature of her work environment, she is prohibited from bringing any assisted walking devices into the facility.  Jaimi has exhausted the benefits of her short-term and long-term disability.  She was notified on 11/17/2020 that her job, of over a decade, will be terminated on 11/29/2020.

Due to the nature of her injury there is legitimate concern that future job opportunities may be limited as they require non-stop long hours on her feet. The GoFundMe amount is based on Jaimi's current monthly housing and essential needs for the next few months while she recovers.

Any prayers or financial contributions would be greatly appreciated to help Jaimi during this time.
