Hello. My name is Kamika, the cousin and godsister of our beautiful Yolanda, daughter of Juanita. This fundraiser was created to allow us to pour the love that she has shown each and every one of us back into her and her family in this time of need.
For those who may not have known, Yolanda was involved in a serious car crash on 10/09/19 where she was T-boned by another driver. The accident was very traumatic and involved the Fire Dept having to remove Yolanda from the car using the Jaws of Life. Without the grace of God, Yolanda may have not have survived, however God and his angels surrounded her and protected her, sparing her life.
Yolanda was immediately rushed to the hospital and was initially told that she only suffered a concussion and that her left hip bone and pelvic bone were broken. She was also temporarily left with the inability to walk. She was transferred to Townhouse Rehabilitation Center on 10/18/19, where she currently resides. During her stay here, she discovered that she also has blood clots which puts her heart into atrial fibrillation.
Her rehabiliation process has been positive, because her spirit is strong which in turn gives her strength, but it hasn't been easy. Yolanda has had to learn to walk again with the use of a body vice which keeps her hip bone in place. She most times is limited to her wheelchair. She is also on blood thinners to keep her blood from clotting. Most of these injuries are irreversible and will be life long.
Her family has remained her strength, however, as she is unable to work and is not being compensated at her full rate from disability, coming into these next few months is proving to be financially challenging. Going forward, once she is released from the rehab, she will have additional extensive rehabilitation at home.
Any financial contributions that are given will go to her and family to help with the upkeep of their home as well as any ongoing financial situations that may arise while they try to regain normalcy in their lives.
God has made miracles happen for her and her family, for which they are grateful and thankful. Please extend your love and compassion during this trying time. No contribution is too small. Thank you all in advance.
