Love for the Lewis Family - Wrights Recovery

Donation protected
Family and Friends, on Wednesday, twelve year old Wright Lewis was riding his bike in his neighborhood and was hit by a recycling truck two blocks from his home. His injuries include tons of stitches, cracked skull and pelvis, lacerated spleen, skin and muscle damage to his left arm that will require reconstruction and multiple surgeries. With as tough as this is to read, Wright is young, healthy, strong and thankfully, is expected to make a FULL recovery. While he is very blessed, this recovery will still be long and rocky for him and his family. The Lewis family is the epitome of a true hockey family. Wright is the middle of 3 boys that live and breathe for hockey and this love of hockey was passed down from their parents. Wright has played travel hockey for the past four years and is currently part of the 12UAA Texas Junior Stars.  His older brother Calder played for the Texas Junior Stars but is currently enrolled in his first year at Shady Side Academy in Pittsburgh, and his younger brother Rivers is a mite for Texas Rising Stars. Their dad Channing also plays and is part of the men's leagues in Austin. Needless to say, Kelly and Channing work very hard to make sure that all three boys are able to pursue their love of competitive hockey while still raising boys that are intelligent and compassionate.  To say 2020 has been difficult is an understatement. They've endured through the sudden death of a dear friend in the Austin hockey community,  job loss, sending their oldest to boarding school, Covid, virtual schooling, to name just a few.  However, if you are lucky enough to spend some time (Socially distanced of course) with any member of this family, you will be surrounded by kindness and compassion.  As we have all witnessed, Kelly would literally give you the shirt off her back.  This GoFundMe was created out of a desire of so many people reaching out and wanting to show their love for the Lewis family.   Again, we are thankful to share that the doctors believe Wright will make a full recovery and will be back on the ice.  However, we all know that personal and financial toll that this will take on the Lewis family.   If 2020 has taught us anything, it is that relationships are the vital part of each of our lives and we want to shower the Lewis family with the love and kindness that they always share with others and to show how hockey families and the hockey community help one of our own.   All donations will be given to Kelly and Channing to help with deductibles, hospital bills, physical therapy, transportation, meals and anything else they might encounter during Wright's recovery.  We can't wait for Wright to be back home recovering and to see him back on his feet and skates very soon! Please consider sharing this and please continue to pray for complete healing for Wright.
