Love for Skylar

Hello my name is Christian Payton. I am the mother of a smart and beautiful 14 month old baby girl named Skylar Maganda. She was born in Nairobi, Kenya. After 9 months of being in Kenya, I decided to move back to Nashville, and got here on New Year's Eve night. A week later she started having a fever over 102 degrees then her chin and under her nose started swelling up.I started giving her Tylenol and Benadryl to help with her fever and swelling. After 2 days her fever didnt break and her swelling was still visible so I took her to the clinic to get checked.
At the clinic they saw her and gave her a higher dose of Tylenol but her fever still didnt break. She could barely move her head because of the knot under her chin and she was so fussy and in so much pain that they said she might have abscess. They told me me to take her to Vanderbuilt Children's Hospital Emergency Room to make sure she didn't have that. When we got to Vanderbuilt, they checked her vituals;her fever was still high and blood pressure was normal. Since she had an fever she was seen right away after getting her vituals. The nurses came in to take her to do x-rays and a ultrasound on her swelling areas. After she finished with her x-rays and ultrasound, my mom noticed her lips were puffy when we reached the room. That's when the nurses said if her lips are like that then we will have to move fast. They put the breathing tube down her and they she was admitted and sent to the PICU. When she got there the nurses drew bloodwork and the results came back that her white and red blood cell counts were low. so they had to give her a blood transfusion to get her red blood cell count up. Over the next couple of days the doctors weaned her off oxygen and on January 20th she was diagnosed with MDS(Myelodplastic Syndrome) which is very rare in children. They also found Monosomy 7( a deletion in a set of chromosomes). She was admitted in the hospital in January with neupomia and a staph infection. She was finally dischared from the hospital in mid February. Since she has MDS which results in here having bone marrow failure , the doctors said the only way to correct this is to undergo a bone marrow transplant. They scheduled her bone marrow transplant for June 20th. Im tryying to raise money for transportation, food, medicine, pampers, baby wipes , and other essentials that not covered by insurance. My goal is to raise $10,000 to help our needs, but anything would help us. Thank you for your prayers and support.
