Love for Lexie Lu

Donation protected
I want to introduce you to two of the most generous and kind people I know, Alex and Carolyn Lu.  Carolyn has wanted to be a mother for her entire life and Alex couldn't wait to start a family with this lovely woman that captured his heart.  Alex works in IT at DCP Midstream and Carolyn works as a pediatric oncology nurse at Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children.  One year ago, they were overjoyed when little Lexie Lu made her way into their lives.  In mid-March 2019, Alex and Carolyn were devastated to learn that Lexie has cancer, a large neuroblastoma in her lower abdomen wrapped around her spine.

Carolyn has dedicated her life to helping children with cancer and now is faced with the same battle that she has comforted so many families through.  Unfortunately because of laws and policy, it has been too soon since Carolyn's maternity leave for her to receive any paid benefits for the time off she will need to spend with Lexie during her upcoming treatments.  In fact, she will need to pay for the cost of her benefits to maintain them as they go through this challenging time.  In addition, there is the deductible, co-insurance, cost to meet the out-of-pocket max and multiple items that are simply not covered by insurance.  I'm sure you understand how quickly this can create financial strain.

Alex and Carolyn are givers by nature, consistently known for caring for anyone in their path that may need something.  Both of their mothers live with them in addition to a few brothers and sisters because they have a deep love for their family.  They are extremely uncomfortable asking for help because they are usually the ones offering to help others.  However, I asked them if I might solicit assistance on their behalf and they have agreed.  I know several people have asked how they might help the Lu's during this time and this is a great way to do just that.  If you aren't able to give monetarily, there are other ways to get involved.  Start by sharing this campaign with others, offer to bring them a meal in the hospital during treatments or one to their house.  There is no donation too small and every dollar can make a difference if we do this together.

Thank you for your time and for anything you are able to give.
