Love for Brandy Magdos

Have you ever had that one teacher who changed your life? If you could return the favor, would you? This CCISD educator of more than 20 years has dedicated her life serving elementary students. On June 18 Brandy’s 46-year-old life changed when she received a Myelodysplastic Syndrome diagnosis. No one ever expects the “C” word to come into their lives especially someone as young and vibrant as our Brandy. Brandy’s cancer requires she take the full year off school since her white blood cell counts will be so low. In addition to a Stem Cell Replacement, a 30-100 day hospital stay as part of her treatment will be required. Of course there will be many follow up appointments as the doctors make sure things run smoothly. Unfortunately, not being able to work means that her paychecks will end before the year does. And as we all know, the medical bills will continue to accumulate even with insurance. Her beautiful children and loving husband are attempting to find peace of mind throughout this horrific time in their lives.
