Love and Donations for Beth

Donation protected

This is long overdue. For 5 years Beth Wallace has been in and out of hospitals, courtrooms and the newspapers.

Many people, including strangers, often ask how they can help our friend and loved one, shooting & fire survivor Beth Wallace. Beth would only let us say "prayers and love", refusing to let others help as "someone else needs it more"... Many of us know Fredericton native and resident, Beth, as an avid giver and supporter through her many volunteer activities over the years in this city for several organizations, charitable, church and civic events, including organizing Fredericton's first NB Day celebrations.

Please help us surprise Beth with some love and support as she appears at Dorchester Penitentiary today to publicly fight to keep would-be killer Ben Nason in prison, 5 years into his 15 year sentence for his attempted murder of her. "I need to go through this to fight this for justice for all victims of violent crimes", she says.

We don't have to tell anyone that knows this story, how hard today, this week, and the past 5 years has been on Beth. Without rehashing the details of the life altering and unexplained stalking, terrorizing, assaults, shooting and burning of her new home by Ben/Benjamin Darren Nason, anyone could understand the devastating impacts this has had on her life in all ways. He left her disabled and disfigured as the bullet decimated her arm and 13 surgeries have been unable to restore its function to date. He ruined her happy and fulfilling life as she knew it. She handles it with grace and determination.

It has recently come out that this crime has caused her to suffer large, irrecoverable financial losses (over $100,000 now and climbing) as, surprisingly, we've learned that there are no insurances, funds, serevices or programs to cover expenses for victims of shootings, or violent, life-altering crimes, unless by vehicle. She can't sue Ben Nason as he has nothing (defended by Legal Aid).

Beth suffered a direct personal loss of $30,000 just for the house he burned and home insurances would not cover. She lost her home business, had to sell her Lincoln Heights home, vehicle and vacation property. She lived on disability support for 3 years and the expenses for these traumas caused by Ben Nason have been significant to a young single woman that lives alone and supports herself solely. These were unexplained, life changing crimes against Beth, her family, neighbours and friends; to our quiet and beautiful city!

She is one of us. We as a city have never financially supported her and perhaps now it is time to give her a 'hand up'. We know she has paid out of pocket (and will continue to pay) for uncovered psychological therapy, physical therapies, assistance at home and transportation for upcoming after surgery care, clothing alterations, some uncovered reconstruction surgery and home modifications to assist her with daily living, among other things that we are not aware of. We hope she will soon drive again so she will need to purchase a car with expensive modifications for what looks like could now be a permanent one arm disability, despite so many surgeries in Fredericton and Halifax to rebuild it.

Beth was/is a true victim in all ways. She is a Survivor and we want her to be a Thriver. Those who know and meet her see her bravery and find her inspiring in the face of such unexplained, horrific trauma. She suffers great pain and anguish silently and alone. Beth does not ask for help. We can not assist much with her unfair physical, mental and emotional suffering, daily struggles, and PTSD; but, we can share our coffee money and encouragement. We know any support financially, no matter the size will help immensely!

Thanks!
