"Love Bites" - Thesis Short Film

Hello There!

My name is Josie Thompson, and I’m a senior at the Ohio University School of Film. The time has come for me to create the final project of my academic career - Love Bites! This queer, coming-of-age, supernatural short film follows the summer romance between anxious high school graduate Maya, and the mysteriously alluring Camille, who is secretly a vampire. Will Maya be her next victim, or will love bite the both of them?

This film explores the highs and lows of falling in love and learning how to move forward with your life when you feel stuck. This is a concept almost everybody can relate to, myself included.

Love Bites was inspired by the classic vampire story Carmilla, and the subsequent web series of the same name. This film is my opportunity to close out my academic career with a story that has been brewing in the back of my mind for nearly a decade.

However, just like everything in life, there’s a cost to telling this story. This project is the biggest undergraduate production ever done in the Ohio University School of Film, with a total cast and crew of over 25 people! Meals for cast and crew, location rentals, set design, costuming, a custom camera rig, festival submission costs, and various other expenses that are needed to realize this vision are all out of pocket.

This is where I must call on the generosity of others. We have a large goal of 3,500 dollars, and any donation or shares of this gofundme goes a long way.
