Love and support for the Jays

On October 29th, Karrigan Jay became ill with a high fever, nausea and lethargy. Quickly, her family realized this was more than the flu. Karrigan’s first stop was the ER, and shortly thereafter she was transferred to Children’s Hospital in St. Louis via ambulance.

Karrigan has been at Children’s Hospital since then fighting sepsis, pneumonia, endocarditis and other ailments complicated by the stint in her heart. By the grace of God, Karrigan is on the bumpy road to recovery. It will be a long road and her family will need lots of prayers as they wait for complete healing and for Karrigan to return to the happy go-lucky girl we all know and love.

I’ve been asked numerous times what we can do to help the Jay family as Karrigan continues to heal. The most appropriate solution I can see is to help with their financial strain.

Even though they have medical insurance, it will not take care of all of the expenses they face. The cost of the ambulance ride, hospital care, transportation and food and lodging for the family while Karrigan is in the hospital, they are facing a large amount of debt. On top of the daily ups and downs presented in the ICU, finances should not be one of their worries. As the weeks go by the bills will continue to pile up.

I want to clarify that Justin and Cassie have not asked me to start this campaign, but I do have their permission. They understand that they have a whole community’s love and prayers and there are many of us who want to help but aren’t sure how.

Please give what your heart leads you to give. Even if all you can do is leave a note of well wishes and love, I know the family will appreciate anything we can do for their baby girl.
