Love and Support for Sydney’s Recovery

My name is Emily and I am starting this gofundme with Connie on behalf of our dear friend, Laurel, and her daughter, Sydney.


On the morning of June 11th, Sydney was t-boned on her way to work. Thankfully, Life360 called 911 and alerted Laurel about the accident. Emergency services arrived quickly and were able to pull Sydney from the passenger side door. Her driver's side had been pushed almost 13 inches inside the car. After arriving to the emergency room and some initial scans, they decided she needed to be transported to Piedmont Athens to see a orthopedic trauma surgeon.

Sydney has at least five pelvis fractures, a broken tail bone, and a concussion. As you can imagine, she is in tremendous pain and cannot get comfortable. She is scheduled for surgery on Monday, June 14th, but has to lay flat in bed until then. They are planning on inserting screws in two of the worst areas and possibly a plate. They won't know the true extent of the damage until they are able to look inside. This will be the beginning of a very long road to recovery.

This fundraiser is to help alleviate Sydney and her mom of this financial burden. Laurel is a single mother and recent breast cancer survivor. She is missing work to be by Sydney's side and will have to take an undetermined amount leave during her recovery. Laurel relies on this income but would never ask for any help, which is why several of her friends and I have decided to ask for help from our communities. Laurel is the most selfless person I know and is the first person to help out when someone else is in need. She has been there for my family during some of our darkest times and her support is unwavering. I feel this is the least I could ever do to repay her.


Money raised will not only be used for Sydney's medical expenses (which remains unknown and growing larger every day) but Laurel's everyday needs such as gas to and from the hospital, daily hospital parking, meals, boarding for their dog, Joey, and the loss of the income from Laurel’s job and Sydney’s part time job.
