Love and Support for Evan

Hello Friends and Family,
It is with bit of hesitation that we start this Go Fund Me Page as Carmen and Elmer are already so thankful for the outpouring of love and support that they have received while Evan has been in the hospital.
However, they are currently trying to process everything the doctors have told them about Evan’s health and what the future might look like for their family. Though Evan may be home very soon, possibly as early as Monday, the care that he will need is extensive. He will be on oxygen and will still need to be given nutrients through IV, as his body is having a very difficult time processing the food he is trying to eat. The very scary reality is that his heart is still failing.
During their lengthy stay at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, Elmer decided to reach out to a heart specialist at Stanford Medical Center to get a second opinion. They will be taking Evan to Stanford Medical in Palo Alto as an outpatient, in hopes that they can help save his heart. This means that both Carmen and Elmer will need to plan around their work schedules as best they can or take time off as permitted. They have exhausted their PTO and Elmer has used up all the disability time frame allowed.
If you feel led to donate it will help Carmen and Elmer immensely as they try to navigate everything that has happened in such a short period of time. Funds will be used to purchase items needed for their home such as wheelchair ramps, a wagon to transport Evan, and will greatly assist as they begin to take their medical trips to the bay area. Funds will also be used to pay medical bills as their insurance is not covering all the procedures and expenses. Evan has had two open heart surgeries within the past three months and will need a lot of medication to help.
Lastly, we invite everyone to pray. Pray for Evan, Lucy, Carmen and Elmer. That God is gracious and fills them with peace during this extremely difficult time. That He performs a miracle so that Evan’s heart can become strong again.

Con un poco de vacilación, iniciamos esta página de Go Fund Me, ya que Carmen y Elmer están muy agradecidos por todo el amor y apoyo que han recibido mientras Evan ha estado en el hospital.
Sin embargo, tanto Carmen como Elmer intentan procesar todo lo que los médicos les han contado sobre la salud de Evan y cómo podría ser el futuro para ellos. Aunque Evan puede estar en casa muy pronto, ay posibilidades que esta en casa mañana (lunes), el cuidado que necesitará es extenso. Tendrá oxígeno y aún necesitará que se le administren nutrientes por vía intravenosa, ya que su cuerpo tiene muchas dificultades para procesar los alimentos que está tratando de comer. La realidad es que su corazón todavía está fallando.
El estar en casa no indica que tiene buena salud. Los doctores en Los Angeles están diciendo que no pueden hacer algo diferente. Elmer decidió contactar a un especialista del corazón en el Stanford Medical Center para obtener una segunda opinión. Harán los arreglos para llevar a Evan a Stanford Medical en Palo Alto. Esto significa que tanto Carmen como Elmer tendrán que tomar mas tiempo del trabajo y eso es pesado cuando han estado en el hospital por tantos meses.
Si se siente motivado a donar, ayudará a Carmen y Elmer inmensamente, ya que intentarán navegar por todo lo que ha sucedido en tan poco tiempo. Los fondos se utilizarán para comprar artículos necesarios para su hogar, como rampas para sillas de ruedas, un vagón para transportar a Evan, y ayudarán en gran medida para cuando ellos empiezan a viajar a Palo Alto a visitar un nuevo doctor.
