Love and Support for Christian "Chris" Alferez

On Saturday, October 9th, Chris, 29, had a tragic car accident that left him with life changing injuries and paralysis from his waist down. Although he severed  his T9-T11 and L1 he is determined to walk again. He underwent back surgery on Sunday the 9th which was unsuccessful. Chris is preparing to be transferred to a rehab facility in the next few days. Unfortunately, like many Americans, he does not have health insurance. We are hoping to raise as much money as possible to help Chris and his parents with the enormous medical and long-term rehabilitation costs.

There are three things Chris loves the most in this world: his family, his animals, and being a farrier. His dad, Enrique Alferez Sr is one of the very best outriders in SoCal, and Chris' world has revolved around the racetrack since he was a child. Chris’ brothers, Edgar and Jr, are also outriders and they all share a love of racing. Chris worked over the last few years as a pony rider for trainer John Sadler.  A few weeks ago, after 18 months of hard work and dedication, he realized his dream and was inducted into the Brotherhood of Working Farriers Association.

 

Chris’ life revolves around being physically active and we want to do everything in our power to help him adjust  and to continue his dream of being a farrier. Family is everything to Chris. His parents Claudia and Enrique Sr, sister Nathalie, brothers Jr and Edgar, as well as his girlfriend Yessica, have been by his side and will continue to support him and champion his will to recover.
