"LOVE & BASKETBALL MISSION TRIP TO HAITI."

Our goal is to provide the youth in Haiti much-needed respite through sport, play and required equipment.

After Hurricane Matthew, I went on a mission trip to Haiti and visited the city of Jeremie, Carrefour Charles and several other villages. During this trip, I visited several orphanages as well, and noticed that there weren’t any resources; programs, games, sports equipment or anything that offer respite to the children.

Studies have shown that the effects of poverty, conflict and disease can be overcome through sport. There is a tremendous need to bring play and sport to help educate and empower the forgotten youth of Haiti.  According to the World Health Organization (WHO), physical inactivity is the fourth leading risk factor for global mortality. “Play is not only a child’s inalienable right – it also influences physical, socio-emotional and cognitive development. The right to play is protected in Article 31 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, as well as the right to sport, which is specifically contained in other international treaties.”

Our Sports Ministry Team is scheduling two mission trips to Haiti.  We're extending our sock and sneaker drive and will coordinate with partners to launch a t-shirt/shorts and basketball drive this summer.

We want to start every girl and boy on equal footing and provide an opportunity for them to do what so many kids in the USA do every day; Go Out And Play!

Your donation will support our efforts to create sustainable opportunities for these forgotten children and allow them to be active, fit and healthy (through the sport of basketball), despite the lack of sufficient resources they experience daily. 

Shipping costs are very expensive.
