Louisville Heart Ball in honor of Laura Lindley

Those who knew my mother well say she was a strong and smart woman, full of life, who worked hard every day to make her community a better place. My mother, the Clark County Health Department Administrator and longtime Jeffersonville resident, suddenly passed away June 26 from a massive heart attack. She was 61 years young, set to retire in November. In her free time, she planned to volunteer, spend more time with her two grandbabies, Thomas(3) and Stockton(2), travel and work in her garden.  She worked her bum off so she could retire blissfully, without a care in the world.  Having worked every single day since she was 14 years old, I say she more than earned it.

My mother was smart and talented with a roaring laugh that would fill a room. She was a kind and loyal friend to anyone she’d meet, but a mother bear when it came to protecting her children. At only 5’-3” and less than a hundred pounds, she had the personality of a bulldog. She was who she was and unapologetic to anyone who stared or scoffed. She was always the life of the party, and never without a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other. This was my mom and I will miss her.

In honor of my mother, I am volunteering for the American Heart Association Louisville Heart Ball auction committee in order to raise money and awareness to a disease that affects more people than we would like to acknowledge. This is my second year volunteering for this organization, but little did I know volunteering this year would take on a whole new meaning.  I ask if you would please consider donating to our cause.  Nothing is too big, nor too small.  Anything and everything you can spare is more than appreciated.  This is my mission and I would love for you to be a part of it.
