Please help me: I am disabled and I need money to pay for a wheelchair accessory to continue my recovery from leukemia. Please take a few minutes to read my story. Thank you.
Needing a wheelchair for mobility and basic day-to-day life can be difficult. Additionally, wheelchairs can be expensive, especially the ones with modifications that can assist someone like me, and there are many times when insurance won't cover what I need. That is why I am asking for your help now.
I was born with with absent radii (there are bones missing in my arms), club feet, and with legs of uneven lengths, among other things. But what has really floored me is contracting leukemia; l am recovering after a transplant and 9 months in the hospital, but it is slow going and I am nowhere near what I was before the leukemia.
I have always been as independent as I can be, and I like to think I am rather resourceful but I still need help. I have a nursing aide, I go to physical therapy and I am constantly pushing myself. I will not let my medical issues stop me from being strong and independent.
There's a new wheelchair that would be very helpful to my healing process, and it seems almost tailor-made for me. The catch? Insurance will only cover a certain portion of the price and I need to raise $9,000.00 to pay for the rest. I need to do it quickly because every day that I don't have this device is another day I am being held back in my recovery. Please help me so that I may continue to improve, and to be able to play with my nieces and godchildren.
