In need of a Heart Transplant due to a disease called Giant Cell MyoCarditis
Hello, family and friends – my mom LouElla needs your help as she and our family deal with her diagnosis. Your donations to this campaign will cover my mom's medical and our family's household expenses. Please travel that road with her as we need your help for my mom and our family.
For those of you that do not know me my name is Dominic Romero, Mario and LouElla's oldest son. It is hard to find the right words to write this, as our family tends to be very private and we usually do not like to talk about personal issues. However, we are strong believers in the power of prayer and we are asking for your prayers and support.
My grandma Margie Baca and myself have created this Go Fund Me to support my mom, LouElla, in this time of need. To those that know my parents best, it will likely come as no surprise that they are not people to openly share or discuss their ailments, burdens, nor are they people to ask for help. They instead are usually the ones that offer help to those in need.
Unfortunately, as many of you might already know my mom is needing a heart transplant. Back in 2006, she was diagnosed with a rare, life-threating illness called Giant Cell Myocarditis. It is an autoimmune disease in which her own immune system is attacking her heart. There is no known cure for this disease, and her treatment has been all experimental. Everything was going as well as can be expected until July 15th of this Year. She started experiencing some chest discomfort and her heart was beating, as if it was going to come out of her chest. It was determined during this time that her heart was only functioning at 10-15%. The doctors installed a pace maker/defibrillator to help her heart work properly. It was also determined that she was going to need a heart transplant, as they do not think her heart could repair. Her next step is to go to Denver, CO on October 7th to be evaluated at the University of Colorado hospital for the heart transplant.
We are trying to raise money for my mom’s heart transplant, which came to us as a shock. Everything happened in a couple of months with no time to process feelings, emotions, or options. As you can imagine there is a huge amount of stress on our family. Going through with this is going to be expensive to my parents. Health insurances will only cover so much and the rest falls on us. On top of medical expenses there is going to be lodging, foods, gas, and other needs that we are going to have to pay for. My parents would never come out and ask for help, so my grandmother and I decided we would do it. Anything helps and would be greatly appreciated.
We ask that everyone please consider making a donation to help my mom navigate this incredible tragic event. For those who are children of awesome parents, you know that you would do anything for your parents in need. We cannot control unforeseen events like the one that we are facing right now, however, collectively as a team of family and friends; we can make a difference in the difficulty my mom will endure today. Let us all take this huge worry off the plate of my mom and my dad by helping them now, so that they can just focus on returning my mom’s beautiful smile to the world very soon. Many of you know the smiles and joy that my mom brings. She comes from a wonderful background and family. My mom is very involved in our community, schools, and sports. She will always try to help anyone in need. My mom is hard working, selfless, and kind. She is an awesome mom to myself, and my 14-year-old twin brothers. Please help if you can. Here's how you can help:
Donations to this campaign will cover partial medical expenses while being in Colorado and household expenses. My grandparents Manuel and Margie Baca is assisting with the partial medical billing and paperwork. In lieu of a GoFundMe online donation, you may send a check made payable Margie Baca or Dominic Romero noting in the memo line: "For LouElla", and mail to 655 Vancouver Rd SE, Rio Rancho, NM 87124.
Either way we hope we can count on your support for my mom LouElla.
Thank you so much!
