Loud Mouth Brown Girl: The Evolution

Donation protected

In 2017 Devon J Hall was arrested for having a panic attack on an airplane. To this day she swears that as one of only two women of color on the plane, the act of having her arrested was in a very real way, a reminder that Black women in Canada aren't as safe as this country would like to pretend.

That arrest started a panic attack that lasted for nearly a year and helped Devon to rediscover more than twenty years of sexual abuse and hidden traumas that had gone ignored out of a need to survive.

In response to her mental health issues, Devon created Loud Mouth Brown Girl in January of 2018, as a way to document her at the time, dwindling mental health, and record what it was that she had been through while outing the men who had raped her and the adults who had neglected her obvious cries for help.

It's been four years now and Devon has extended the brand to include the self-published book Uncomfortable (available on Amazon) and
the podcast Comfortably Uncomfortable Conversations, available on Spotify, iTunes, and wherever you listen to podcasts.

During the week of #MayTheFourthBeWithYou 2021, Devon started her brand new YouTube project "Show Me How To Live", which is
going to be a continual conversation about mental health and healing from trauma.

With this new project, Devon hopes to interview people from around the world who have dealt with mental health issues and found ways to heal in spite of what those around them think is possible.

This project aims to take the "idea" of self-love, by turning it into actionable behaviors that can help us heal from trauma and mental health issues. Discussions will revolve around the importance of connecting with other survivors, and taking an active role in your mental health journey, including but not limited to standing up for yourself in the medical industry, which traditionally does not take mental health as seriously as the patients do.

All of the funds raised will go towards supporting the projects that Devon is aiming to create that will hopefully inspire others to believe that they can do whatever they want with their lives, no matter what mental health issues folks are dealing with.

Right now 90% of Devon's Loud Mouth Brown Girl content is available across the internet for free, with the exception of the blog posts, videos, and podcasts that are published on Patreon, this money would help create a cushion for Devon so that she can continue to create great mental health content.
