<div><strong>Loua en haar strijd</strong>

<div>Op 22 november 2022 bracht onze prachtige Loua vreugde in ons leven. Haar grote broer Quinn was dolgelukkig! Maar wat een mooie tijd had moeten zijn, veranderde langzaam in een nachtmerrie. Ons meisje bleek ernstig ziek te zijn.

<div>Gedurende 10 maanden hebben we geleefd met angst, hoop en wanhoop. We hebben ook mooie en onvergetelijke momenten gedeeld. Maar op 12 september 2023 kregen we de vernietigende diagnose voor Loua: ASMD type A (Niemann-Pick type A). Dit is een zeer zeldzame en ongeneeslijke stofwisselingsziekte, waarbij kinderen op zeer jonge leeftijd komen te overlijden. Het is een sluipmoordenaar, en niemand weet hoe snel of wanneer het definitief toeslaat. Het heeft al toegeslagen, en ons meisje zal niet oud worden. Op dit moment zijn haar milt, lever en longen al beschadigd door de ziekte. Loua zal alleen maar zieker worden, steeds minder zelf kunnen, en daardoor steeds meer hulp en zorg nodig hebben.

<div>Onze tijd is kostbaarder dan ooit, want wat als je weet dat je kind niet lang te leven heeft? Nog één jaar? Twee jaar? Drie jaar? Als ouders willen we alles doen wat we kunnen om deze tijd zo waardevol mogelijk te maken. We willen niets liever dan zelf voor Loua zorgen en haar geven wat ze nodig heeft. De keuze tussen tijd doorbrengen met je kind (en voor haar zorgen) of financiële zekerheid is hartverscheurend. Onze financiële middelen zijn ontoereikend om rond te komen met slechts één inkomen, waardoor moeder (Yaelle) volledig voor Loua kan zorgen. Maar door het systeem lopen we tegen allerlei regels aan waardoor Loua, vooral omdat ze nog zo jong is, tussen wal en schip valt. Hierdoor krijgen we niet genoeg financiële steun om de zorg volledig zelf te bieden. Het is op dit moment niet haalbaar voor moeder (Yaelle) om haar baan op te zeggen en de zorg voor Loua op zich te nemen, en Loua te geven wat ze verdient: zoveel mogelijk tijd met mama en papa. Daarom vragen we jullie om een donatie, zodat Loua de liefdevolle zorg van haar moeder kan krijgen die ze verdient en nodig heeft. Elke bijdrage, hoe klein ook, helpt ons om Loua te laten genieten van kostbare momenten met haar ouders en haar grote broer Quinn.

<div>We are Wes and Yaelle, proud parents of Loua. It feels quite unfamiliar for us to ask for help, but we have no other choice if we want to provide Loua with what she so desperately needs and deserves. We hope that you can support us during this challenging time.

<div>On November 22, 2022, our beautiful Loua brought joy into our lives. Her big brother Quinn was overjoyed! But what should have been a beautiful time slowly turned into a nightmare. Our girl turned out to be seriously ill.

<div>For 10 months, we have lived with fear, hope, and despair. We have also shared beautiful and unforgettable moments. But on September 12, 2023, we received the devastating diagnosis for Loua: ASMD type A (Niemann-Pick type A). This is an extremely rare and incurable metabolic disease where children pass away at a very young age. It's a silent killer, and no one knows how quickly or when it will strike definitively. It has already struck, and our girl will not grow old. At this moment, her spleen, liver, and lungs are already damaged by the disease. Loua will only get sicker, be less able to do things on her own, and thus need more and more help and care.

<div>Our time has become more precious than ever because what do you do when you know your child doesn't have much time left? Another year? Two years? Three years? As parents, we want to do everything we can to make this time as valuable as possible. We want nothing more than to care for Loua ourselves and provide her with what she needs. The choice between spending time with your child (and caring for her) or financial security is heart-wrenching. Our financial resources are insufficient to make ends meet with just one income, which means that mother (Yaelle) can fully care for Loua. However, due to the system, we face various rules that, especially because Loua is so young, leave her falling through the cracks. As a result, we cannot receive enough financial support to provide care completely on our own. It is currently not feasible for mother (Yaelle) to quit her job and take care of Loua, and give Loua what she deserves: as much time as possible with mom and dad. That's why we are asking you for a donation so that Loua can receive the loving care from her mother that she deserves and needs. Every contribution, no matter how small, helps us let Loua enjoy precious moments with her parents and her big brother Quinn.
