Getting answers for our Lottie’s Future

As many of you know, our 5 year old daughter has multiple special needs but is currently considered Undiagnosed. We have spent the last 5 years doing testing here in Kansas City, but have hit a wall. The experts here have even said to us “we just don’t know, maybe science just hasn’t caught up with her yet.” Well for us that answer is simply not good enough, so we started researching outside options. The program that seemed to meet our needs the best is the Undiagnosed and rare disease program at the children’s hospital of Wisconsin. We will be spending 6 days there, March 9th-15th, with doctors appointments and a possible surgery on 5 out of the 6 days. 

All of that being said, we were hoping we would be able to foot the bill for all of it. We have insurance and Medicaid but in order for the Wisconsin Undiagnosed Disease program to work with us our out of pocket HAS to be met before we go. And Medicaid so far is not working to help us. So we are looking at over 3,000 dollars from our out of pocket that we have to come up with before our trip in 2 weeks.  On top of that cost is the travel cost. We are planning on driving and hoping to stay in the Ronald McDonald house but if the RMH is full we will have to pay for 6 nights in a hotel and food. As much as we hate asking for help, we really do not want to miss out on this incredible opportunity. 

We are hoping to raise 5k to cover the out of pocket costs and travel costs. Any money not spent on the Wisconsin trip will go into paying prior medical bills or bills for things Lottie may need in the near future.
