Sometimes we are too proud to ask for help. My grandson Lincoln along with his mom and dad and big brother Kane are in need of your help. You see mom started a new job 2 weeks before Lincoln was born, not expecting this precious boy to enter our world at only 24 weeks. Dad also started a new career just 4 months prior. They were both trying to ensure a better future for this little family they are creating, but as most of us know things don't always go as planned. Now they are finding themselves at a loss. Dad has no more paid time off, and with mom still on maternity leave they have minimal funds coming in.
Lincoln was born on Friday, March 23rd at 12:49am, weighing a whomping 1lb 7oz. He was born a fighter. Since coming into this world Lincoln has received multiple platelet transfusions to bring his levels up, he has been on various types of ventilators, he has had fluid in his lungs, he has received shots to help close a valve that is open in his heart(and is still open at the moment. If it does not close he will have to make a special trip down to Milwaukee or Madison to receive open heart surgery) and is currently receiving steroids to help his lungs develop in an attempt to get him off of the ventilator and breathing on his own. So far the steroids are doing their job and the doctors have been able to slowly decrease the amount of oxygen he requires.
Lincoln is now 2 weeks old and is a strong and brave little fighter. However he will be in the NICU for at least 3 to 4 months. This is already a long and grueling journey but there is still more story to be told, this is just the first chapter in the life of Lincoln Gray Montcrieff, both for baby Lincoln and for mommy and daddy and big brother Kane. So with all the expenses accruing and the unknown difficulties that lie ahead, as family we are asking you for your love and prayers and support. Just remember anything helps, even if it is only a small amount.
