Make A Wish For Morgan

Donation protected
At 21 years of age Morgan's life was coming along nicely, she was expecting her first child and couldn't be happier. At 18 weeks pregnant she began coughing up blood and an xray revealed a mass on her right lung. She was flown to Flinders Medical Centre where she underwent a bronchoscopy to have a closer look at what was there. A 6cm tumor was discovered and her lung had collapsed as a result. Several anxious days passed as we awaited the results of the biopsy they had taken. The doctors told us the tumor was a carcinoid and it was definately benign. During her pregnancy she had several other biopsies taken also which all showed the same result. That was great news, the plan was to stop the tumor bleeding and get her through the rest of the pregnacy and then after the baby's born she would undergo an operation to remove the right lung, taking the tumor with it. It was a very serious operation but she was assured it would cure her and she would live a normal healthy life with her remaining lung. Well little Braxton arrived 6 weeks early and again they were flown to Flinders Medical Centre where Brax spent a little over a week in the neonatal unit and plans were made for Morgan's operation to go ahead. We all returned home to whyalla where Morgan could spend some time bonding with her baby before we all were to go back in May for the operation. Upon admission  to the Flinders , the surgeon told Morgan that unfortunately the operation wouldn't be going ahead as a full body scan she had done a week prior showed that the tumor had spread outside of her lung. The doctors were stunned, this was not supposed to happen.  A less than 1% chance they told us, they had only seen 5 other cases in the world that presented the same as this, she was incredibly unlucky. After more tests and scans, Morgan was diagnosed with advanced primary pulmonary carciniod of the lung with around 40 other carcinoid tumors (metastasis) spread throughout her body. It is a rare cancer that is usually slow growing, the primary tumor on her lung would have been there for quite sometime. It is probably only due to the pregnancy that put extra pressure on the lung and tumor that caused it to bleed otherwise she still might be none the wiser to this day. At present her condition is treatable but sadly  it is incurable. This type of cancer does not respond well to chemotherapy but Morgan has been lucky enough to have been granted access to a form of radiation that will be shipped from the UK which she will  receive at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. It can deliver amazing results and her oncologist is confident she will be able to see many years ahead. She will fight this with all she's got, she has a beautiful little boy who will be her strength and inspiration, he needs his mummy. We are well aware there is no cure for her condition but we will never stop praying for a miracle. Our family are heartbroken that she has to endure this, that we can't fix her but we can only stay strong and keep going forward. We will never be okay with it but we cannot change what she has been dealt. My hopes are to fundraise for Morgan to be able to carry out some of her dreams she had invisioned for her future. One of those dreams are to travel and it would be such a blessing for her to be able to do so at the end of the year when her course of treatment finishes. No one at any age deserves to endure something so cruel, a 22 year old new mother should be enjoying some of the best moments in her life, not dealing with this. So please help me to make some of morgan's dreams come true - that she does deserve. Lastly, never take your loved ones for granted, tell them you love them everyday, live life to the fullest as you never know whats right around the corner. In an instant your world can fall apart forever. Thankyou xxx
