Hola amigos!!!

Se que en este momento cada quien tiene sus propios problemas y luchas, pero en este momento necesito de su ayuda.

Yo soy Rebeca Fontana, esta es mi tia, Maria Elena, la menor de los hermanos de mi papá, la única niña, por eso es la más consentida de la casa. Desde que tengo memoria es una de las personas más alegres y de gran corazón que he conocido. Siempre ha estado ahí para mi y para quien lo necesite, por esto quiero estar en este momento para ella.

Con una sonrisa encima, me ha enseñado que para ser feliz no hace falta más que una buena compañía. Y eso es lo que ella ofrece, además de cocinar increíblemente rico.

El lado feo de esta historia, es el cancer, es esa enfermedad que todos odiamos, que debe ser detectada a tiempo para poder combatirla como puede ser, es algo que no puedes controlar. Esta vez el cancer decidió visitar el cuerpo de mi tia, específicamente el colon.

Tristemente no pudimos detectarlo con tiempo, y para el momento que la estaban operando con urgencia, habían descubierto que se le había esparcido hacia el hígado.

Ella vive en Venezuela. Creo que no se necesita explicar lo que estamos viviendo en este momento. Desde hace años, la falta de medicamentos, gracias a la crisis económica, ha afectado a muchas familias venezolanas. Esta vez nos tocó a nosotros.

El diagnostico que nos dan es que este tumor es "salvaje" (lo que sea que eso signifique). No se ve muy bien. Y el próximo paso es que debe tomar cuanto antes 26 ampollas de Erbitux (100 mg) el nombre genérico es Cetuximab.

Entre todos en mi familia, hemos buscado la posibilidad de encontrarlas en Venezuela. Pero no lo logramos. Lo más económico y cercano que encontramos es en Colombia, y cada una cuesta 300 USD, lo que nos tiene de manos atadas gracias a la ridícula inflación que estamos viviendo. Y después de eso vendrán muchos otros más gastos para seguir nuestra lucha contra el cancer.

Esta es la razón por la que decidimos pedirles ayuda, con lo que sea que puedan o compartiendo en sus redes sociales. No saben cuanto se los agradecería.

I know that everyone has their own problems and battles, but I didn't have any other option than to ask for your help.

This is my aunt, Maria Elena. She is my dad's youngest sister and the only girl. That's why she is the most spoiled. Since I can remember, she has been one of the most joyful people and greatest heart I've ever met. She has always been there for me and for everyone who needs her. That's why I want to be there for her in this moment.

With a smile on her face, she has taught me that to be happy the only thing you need is good company. And that's what she offers, as well as incredibly good cooking.

The ugly part of this story is cancer, that disease we all hate, that needs to get detected on time so we can all fight it, that disease you can't control. This time it decided to visit my aunt's body, specifically the colon.

Sadly, we couldn't detect it on time. And by the time she got a chance to have surgery, the doctors could see that the cancer had spread to her liver.

She lives in Venezuela. I believe there is no point in getting political or explaining in detail what Venezuelans are going through in this moment. It is not a surprise for anybody that we have been short on medicine, thanks to the economic crisis, affecting thousand of Venezuelan families. This time it is our turn.
The diagnosis is that it's a "wild" tumour (whatever that means). It doesn't look that good. And the next step is that she needs to take 26 infusions of Erbitux (100 mg) or Cetuximab.

Everyone in my family tried to find those medicines in Venezuela. But it wasn't possible. The cheapest and closest option was in Colombia, and each medication has a cost of 300 USD, an amount that we can't afford to pay thanks to the ridiculous inflation in Venezuela. After this, we will need to pay for a lot more things to beat the cancer.

This is the reason why we decided to reach out to you for help with whatever you can, even just sharing this post. You have no idea how much I would thank you.
