Celebration of Life- Loriene Shantz

It is with a heavy heart that we say good bye to our dear Loriene, who we lost suddenly on September 15th due to a brain aneurysm.  
She leaves behind her 21 year-old daughter, Jesse, their family, and countless friends.

Loriene was a remarkable woman, a devoted mother, and a dear friend/sister/daughter.

With her loving heart, great sense of humour and endless generousity, Loriene could make anyone her friend and has touched the lives of so many.

Loriene enjoyed exploring her creativity, and she was good at it!
Her amazing baked goods and preserves were always in high demand.  Every occasion called for Loriene's amazing cookies, squares, pickles or jams!  Her stunning gingerbread houses, wreaths and centerpieces, always added warmth and beauty during the holidays.

A pillar in the community, Loriene dedicated much of her time volunteering at several of the local schools, and helping others in need.
She cared for many of the neighborhood kids both full time and before & after school.  She was a 'mom' to so many of our children and will be dearly missed.

Loriene loved being a mom, she loved to laugh, she loved her kitties, and she loved a good bargain!
Most of all she loved life...  Her silly giggles will never be forgotten.

Loriene  was a strong and determined woman; a loving single mother who lived humbly on a disability pension due to her lifelong struggle with Chrohn's disease.  
As such, Loriene was not eligible for affordable life insurance and had little savings.
At the time of her passing, she was supporting her daughter, Jesse who is studying criminology at SFU in hopes to someday become a lawyer.

We are asking the community to please join in and help the family during this difficult time.  Any donation that you can make will be appreciated.
The proceeds will be used to cover memorial costs, and to help support her daughter, Jesse during this difficult transition.

May Loriene rest in peace and continue to shine bright above us all.
