Lorens Kidney Transplant

We are starting this Go fund me page to raise money for Loren M. Mells Kidney Transplant. Loren and I have been friends for many years now.

Loren has three wonderful children Michael, Tynesha, and Jaden. He has one Grandson Carter.

Loren has lived with Diabetes and chronic kidney disease most of his life. He maintained at stage 3 until February 2017. He dropped down to 18% and was then eligible to qualify to go on the donor list at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. In May 2017 his total kidney function again dropped down to 12% he was told at this time that the best option was dialysis. June 2017 he received a PD port in his abdomen to do dialysis from home.

As of now  his total Kidney function is down to 8% and he at stage 5 the end stage kidney Failures.

We have Family and friends who are willing to help and be by our sides.
He does have health insurance for now but it will not cover the total cost for the transplant the subsequent recovery treatment. He is already incurring out of pocket expenses for preliminary testing. Therefore, we rely on your assistance as the funds will help us meet up with medical cost of pre- and post transplant and co-pays, and pre, transplant evaluation and testing, the surgery, follow-up care and testing and additional hospital stays for complications, anti-rejection and other drugs, and rehabilitation.

Compatible Blood Types

Kidney donors must have a compatible blood type with the recipient. In living donation, the following blood types are compatible:

Donors with blood type A... can donate to recipients with blood types A and AB
Donors with blood type B... can donate to recipients with blood types B and AB
Donors with blood type AB... can donate to recipients with blood type AB only
Donors with blood type O... can donate to recipients with blood types A, B, AB and O (O is the universal donor: donors with O blood are compatible with any other blood type)
So,

Recipients with blood type O... can receive a kidney from blood type O only
Recipients with blood type A... can receive a kidney from blood types A and O
Recipients with blood type B... can receive a kidney from blood types B and O
Recipients with blood type AB... can receive a kidney from blood types A, B, AB and O (AB is the universal recipient: recipients with AB blood are compatible with any other blood type)
