Beni Rodriguez was a victim of a major injury traffic collision. On January

1-18-2014 he was hit by a drunk driver, in broad daylight at 1:30P.M. at a four way stop sign Beni look left, look right and two parked cars stop him from looking further down Not a liquor store in sight in a neighborhood that was 25mph the drunk driver was driving a Chevy Suburban ignored his stop sign and had two other drunk minors in the car; Hit with an impact of 85mph truck t-boned Beni's van that belong to my mother sending him four houses down in a viscous cycle of spins. The driver and passengers of the suburban fled upon police arrival. Then spotted by a news chopper hiding behind a house  the driver was captured taken to jail where he awaits his court date. However, for Beni he was laid upside down in the crushed van unconscience. The ambulance quickly got there and used what they call the jaws of life to open the door to pull him out. Beni arrived at the Regional ICU hospital department where he had immediate surgery due to bleeding to death internally. Beni's spleen was removed due to its critical condition from the metal and seat belt over tightening. Beni suffered from brain damage on both sides of his head as well as a hurt neck. My family was also told that his pelvis was broken with A fractured hip and his lost of blood was crucial. As the trauma team there tried there best to help him, Beni would not respond. Long nights and days awaiting for Beni to wake up it took him five long days to start moving his legs and arms. The six day he was moving but would not wake up. Specialist came and saw my brother where many said it was a miracle for him to be alive even to have been in a complete body with arms and legs. The 7th day Beni started opening his eyes after a lot of support and prayer. I believe Beni fought to stay alive. As a week went by he began to respond lifting a thumbs up and thumbs down.He would eventually speak with help of therapy. Therapy helped him learn to walk and eat again. After a month and a week in ICU he was released to a special care home. Suddenly, after just a half a day out of the hospital he turned very pale-yellow were he was short of breath, Beni was sent back to the hospital where he will be staying there again for more test, @ Valley Medical Center in San Jose. Doctors have notified us that Beni had his blood cells not running at normal stage Thy also figure out why his white blood cells were extremely high, why they (weren't) producing as a normal body would function. The team thinks the car accident woke up an illness that there is a possibility Beni is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia were he has to wait for final results.
