When Rebekah was diagnosed on Dec 20, 2017 with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), her whole world changed. Continual, excruciating pain spread from her left ankle up her leg, then to her right leg, and now to her left fingers. The pain has left her unable to walk, unable to even read a sentence, and unable to attend school.
Our family has joined Rebekah on this journey to regain health. Each family member prays for her day and night. Mom and Dad have become her at home physical therapists, fighting through ours each day of causing our daughter even more pain by rubbing her legs and forcing them to move.
Rebekah's path to remission is likely a long process. First, we have done 12 weeks of home therapy and outside PT sessions. Second, we are heading half-way across the country to Kansas City for about 6 weeks of intensive, specialized therapy in a special CRPS program. She will be engaged in 8 hours a day of PT, OT, and counseling, working through the excruciating pain that comes with using these affected body parts. Third, Rebekah will return home and continue an hour of home exercises and during this phase the pain should begin to decrease.
We are raising money for plane tickets to Kansas City, medical bills, a rental car, some basic food costs, a few house cleanings back in Atlanta (as we have gotten far behind), and pain counseling costs.
