Lorca Elementary C/O 2020 Washington D.C. Trip

Our school is Federico Garcia Lorca Elementary, a CPS school in the Avondale neighborhood of Chicago. We are trying to raise money for the Class of 2020's 8th grade trip to Washington D.C.

This is a very enthusiastic, imaginative, and fervent group of 8th graders who refused to take no for an answer. They put together a student-led group committee that presented the idea of the trip to teachers and administration. They organized a package from two different travel companies comparing cost breakdowns and itineraries. And they filmed, directed, and edited the video that you see inserted here.

This is a trip that is new to our school and an opportunity that we have been advocating for our students to have for a very long time. The cost of the trip however is still an obstacle for many of our families. For this year's trip, we only have 40 of the 95 8th graders signed up.

Our goal is to help reduce the cost of the trip as much as much as possible to get as many students as we can on that bus with us this April.This trip is literally a dream for our students.
