Loralyn's Heartworm Slow Kill Fundraiser
Donation protected
Welcome, pretty Loralyn, our newest Pointer rescue for 2023. She's a bit rough, having sores on her legs and an infected tail aka happy tail. Her eyes are a bit blood shot too. Unfortunately, blood work revealed she does have heartworms but she is doing well in our slow-kill program so far. The beauty of slow kill is she can run around the yard and act like a normal dog during treatment. It may take a year for the treatment to be successful- but I refuse to pump arsenic-based poisons through any IBR dogs.
Treatment for her infected tail is going very well and the wound around her feet and legs is also so much better. Loralyn is a super happy girl, loves playing with other dogs and is cat safe. She will need a Foster to Adopt home in the Chicago area that has a safe fenced-in yard. She will be higher energy so will need lots of room to run in the safety of a yard.
The cost to help a dog like Loralyn get through heartworm slow-kill including blood work, medications and supplements can cost close to $1,000. Lora will need repeated bloodwork throughout to check her progress. We hope we can get some donations to help with her care.
