Power Wheelchair for Lonni Palmer

Donation protected

Anyone who knows Lonni knows how remarkable of a woman she is, and how kind and caring she is to everyone she meets.  She was like a second mother to me growing up and is truly a nurturer and one of the best people I've had the pleasure of knowing in life.

Unfortunately, Lonni has not been dealt a good hand when it comes to hear health.  She currently suffers from rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and severe osteoperosis.  Due to a collapse in the vertebrae in her lower spine, Lonni has been left with extremely limited mobility.  In the last few years she's had countless surgeries and hospitalizations, including foot reconstruction, total knee replacements, renal failure, a shattered femur, a broken hip, was on life support, etc.  Due to her bones being so thin and having to remove one of her hip joints after multiple surgeries, her body is no longer able to support hardware necessary to aid in her hip replacement.  As you can probably imagine, Lonni can only walk extremely short distances with a walker, as it's just too much for her body to handle, and doing so causes her terrible pain.  (Her left leg is now three inches shorter than her right leg, so you can imagine how challenging that in itself must be.)  She spends the majority of her time in a wheelchair, but unfortunately her wheelchair is only equipped for indoor use.  We all know Minnesota weather can be very challenging, but this is especially true when your mobility is already limited and restricts you to being indoors.  Lonni is in need of a power wheelchair so that she can get back and forth to doctor appointments and do activities of daily living, but unfortunately, as we all know, insurance only covers so much.  Even with insurance, she is faced with paying $3,500 out of her own pocket.

Following the death of her daughter, Lonni and her husband have been raising and providing for three of their grandchildren, which is a huge financial undertaking of its own, but they've also been burdedned with countless medical bills.  Lonni is the type of person who whould do anything to help anyone she could, so in return, let's rally our support for her and help her get the wheelchair she needs.  No donation is too small and every little bit will help to reach this goal!  Thank you for your support and consideration!
