We are overwhelmed with gratitude at the amazing response we've had to this fundraiser! Thank you all so very much for your selflessness, your support, love, and compassion! Lonnie is so very deserving and we are so thankful for the love that is being shown to him during this time of need.
Lonnie Vercher is an AMAZING person who needs our help!! Lonnie has been the Service Manager at Audubon Lake Apartments for nearly 3 years and is a beloved employee, co-worker, & friend to all of us in the Audubon Lake & Lynd Company family ... He is also a dedicated husband of 31 years to Stephanie, father of 4 (Jonathon, Krista, Nicholas, & Isabella), & grandfather of 3 (Brayden, Grayson, & Kylan).
On Monday February 23 Lonnie went to the doctor experiencing pains in his kidneys. He discovered that he had kidney stones. Painful, but not the end of the world. The following day he was contacted by his doctor saying something abnormal was on his scans, something that appeared to be an aneurysm near his heart. They requested he go in for further testing. On Friday February 27 he returned for another scan which confirmed what the doctors feared - Lonnie had an aneurysm in his aortic valve that had grown in the 5 days since thr last scan was done - he would need immediate open heart surgery in order to repair.
Lonnie immediately headed to the emergency room & was taken into ICU for monitoring. He stayed there for 3.5 days while they worked to regulate his blood pressure. They found no blockages, but did note that the valve is leaking. They determined that they wanted to wait a couple of days to perform the surgery in order to fully prepare, as it is a very major surgery.
Lonnie is scheduled for open heart surgery on Monday March 9 ... he will be out of work for up to 8 weeks. Luckily this surgery has a 95% success rate & he has the best doctor in Lafayette for this particular case! We are optimistic & believe that Lonnie will come out of this healthier than ever! But until then, we want to help Lonnie & his very deserving family with whatever financial help we can. As the primary breadwinner for his family, these medical bills & leave of absence from work will take a financial toll that that we want to try and fill.
Please find it in your heart to donate whatever you can to help Lonnie. He dedicates so much of his life to his job, our residents, & his family ... let's make sure that we take care of him in this time of need.
