Help Make History by Supporting the Long Beach Filipino Festival!

The 2018 Inaugural Long Beach Filipino Festival will be a celebration of the Filipino cultural community in Long Beach, CA. This festival will be held on May 19, 2018 from 11am – 7pm

at Silverado Park on the Westside of Long Beach where the largest concentration of Filipinos in the community historically have lived. The festival will offer art, dance, music, food, and history of the Filipino community in Long Beach to the public to spread an understanding of the contributions of the Filipino community to Long Beach through the many years the community has been present. This community was established in 1920 and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2020.

The community of Long Beach has little understanding of the deep roots of Filipino culture and their contributions to Long Beach. Cultural food, dance, music, storytelling, and art will be featured from prominent Filipino American artists and community members. This multi-generational event will celebrate Filipino contributions by offering musical and dance performances throughout the day, a community mural-painting project, live art creation for youth, and a variety of food tastings and offerings of Filipino traditional foods.

The goals of the Inaugural Long Beach Filipino Festival are to:

1. Promote Filipino arts and culture
2. Recognize Filipino small businesses and provide exposure to the broader community
3. Begin the process of full integration of Filipinos into the Long Beach community through education and exploration of cultural norms.

Performers & Entertainment: Ruby Ibarra, Beatrock Music, Gingee, Bootleg Orchestra, Shining Songs, Rocksteady Rondalla, and many more…

Merchant Vendors: Make Collectives, Kahoy Collection, Good Times Official, and many more…

Food Vendors:Tux & Chucks, Edna’s Filipino Cuisine, Good Chicken LB and many more…

Other Activities:Children’s Pavillion, Live Art Battles, Filipinos of Long Beach History booth, and DJ & BBoy battles (Special Guest Judge DJ ICY ICE), etc.

We hope that the Long Beach Filipino Festival can bridge the gap between Filipinos and the greater Long Beach community!  We want Filipinos of all ages, elders and youth, to learn our culture and values and share it with younger generations. We want to spread awareness and understanding of the rich Filipino culture, food, music, language, and history among our neighbors and break down barriers so Filipinos can fully participate and be civically engaged in our Long Beach community.

We are only a few weeks away until May 19, and we could really use “Bayanihan” and Filipino community support!

Help us make the Inaugural Long Beach Filipino Festival a success by donating to our Go Fund Me today!

Every donation goes towards the costs for stage, sound, security, tables, chairs, booths, bathrooms, and hand-washing stations!
